By 2026, the objective of making the city of Barcelona a totally accessible place for everyone has been set. The City Council of Barcelona has proposed that all works of the Universal Accessibility Plan 2018-2026 may allow the approval of the first municipal ordinance of the Catalan city.
Laia Ortiz, deputy mayor of Social Rights has announced in the press presentation of the Universal Accessibility Plan of Barcelona 2018-2026 that the Municipal Institute of People with Disabilities (IMPD) has already begun to develop a project that will be presented as Measure of government in plenary commission next week.
“The objective is that in 2026 Barcelona be 100% accessible to 100% of the population,” stressed Laia Ortiz. He has also added that the municipal government wants the second accessibility plan to be implemented by Barcelona in an own accessibility ordinance to be the last.
